Stamped Concrete

Stamped Concrete is one of the easiest Solutions for outdoor installation in many homes for making your own flooring such as patio, pool deck or driveway, Concrete is a tough and durable material which makes it ideal for outdoor applications.
What is amazing in Stamped Concrete is that it is available in a wide range of colors, textures and styles which gives you wide variety in design which enables you to achieve your specific home design goals more easily.
The most important factor in installing your stamped Concrete is how to take care of & how to annually maintain it; I have summarize the maintenance tips in the following points
  1. Cleaning
Use a mild detergent and a push broom to clean your flooring. This will effectively clear dust, debris and stains. A pressure washer can also clean the concrete effectively. Be sure that you are using a medium setting so as not to damage the concrete. Thoroughly rinse the flooring with a garden hose. Soap residues encourage stains which spoils the beauty of your flooring. Allow 1 day for the flooring to air dry. However, you can use a leaf blower to dry the deck faster. Don’t allow dirt and debris to sit for prolonged periods on your stamped concrete as it encourages stains. It is best if you mop water from swimming pool use. When left on the deck, it encourages stains to develop.
  1. Avoid Harsh Cleaners
The best cleaners to use on your stamped concrete are neutral cleaners. Do not use acid-based cleaners as these can destabilize the surface structure and spoil color uniformity. Avoid the use of de-icing salts to clear snow build-up. These contain compounds that are bound to damage your stamped concrete. De-icing salts can cause separation of the sealer from the concrete.
  1. Sealing
During installation, a sealant is used on stamped concrete. This helps to protect it from damage and also maintains the color. It is vital that you reapply the sealant periodically to protect your pool deck. The first reapplication needs to be done 6 months after installation. Thereafter, you should apply sealant every 2 to 3 years. Be sure to wash the flooring and rinse thoroughly. Allow 1 day for the flooring to dry completely before you apply sealant. It is a good idea to mix an anti-skid formula with the sealant. Stir the solution frequently during application to ensure proper integration. Once the first layer doesn’t feel tacky when touched, you can apply a second layer. Sealer is best applied with a nap roller as a spray mechanism can get clogged.
  1. Repairs
With time, you may notice cracks on your stamped concrete. If left unattended, cracks encourage more extensive damage. Apply concrete patch to cracks to seal the faulty area. This prevents infiltration of water into the concrete.
  1. Protective Measures
Be sure to place dishes under your potted plants in the Stamped Concrete areas. This helps to capture the water and fertilizer that seeps out of the pot. If left to leak onto your stamped concrete, it creates stains and more maintenance work for you. Fix plastic glides on the bottom of your furniture to prevent scratches on the concrete. It is also a good practice to lift furniture during re-arrangement or cleaning rather than to drag it across the concrete.
